Abstract: After four years war-time destruction the independent state of Bosnia and Herzegovina brought into being by the Dayton Accord but constituted by two entities – Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republica Srpska. Mostar bacame divided city as well and until recently with two administratively and politically separated parts – Mostar East and Mostar West. This paper investigates specifities of Mostar and ways in which the presence of the border within city of Mostar has been made slower city's own demographical, urban-geographical and economic progress. The parallel institutions have brought several forms of obstacles, many of which have been related to slower return to home and development of the city. The task of this paper is to throw some lights on specific measures and efforts that have been done by the city's government in order to improve the situation.
