Abstract: The main theme of this article is the influence of the political and economical state on the development of tourism in the countries of the Balkan Peninsula. The article shows a brief historical review during the last few decades in the Balkan countries, with the accent put on the events that influenced the economical state and tourist development in them. There is also a brief review of the basic tourist parameters, which include the number of the foreign touristis and the financial gains from their visits.
