Abstract: The development of geographical thought in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be monitored and analyzed through the Geographical Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Science of the University of Sarajevo. The contemporary geographic moment of Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the time of a scientific explosion, which is conditioned by the accelerated growth of the association of increasingly engaged states and peoples, the tide of information, the expansion of horizons and contemporary tendencies of global regionalization. The basic problems of geography as a science in Bosnia and Herzegovina are:
-three different and separate in application of geography education curriculum;
- non-harmonized geography programs at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
- abolition of geography in most professional schools;
- difference in approaches to geographic education at all levels of education;
-very weak coordination of ministries and pedagogical institutes with scientific geographical institutions.
Understanding geography as a systemic science, which places an equal emphasis on the system of physical-geography, social-geography sciences, regional geography, cartography and geoecology, the Department of Geography innovated the existing curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate studies with the aim of geographical applications.

Abstract: Political-territorial system and administrative structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina thath has been implemented by Dayton peace agreement are the expressions of compromised solutions for the regional, political, economical, cultural, and ethnical disagreements. Those disagreements were, in the last decade of last century, the cause of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina that had a great affects on its social-economical and regional development. The subjects of this lecture are the affects of Dayton's political-territorial „system“ of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its regional-geographic structure and the regional development. Such affects are huge and comolicated. They implicate disintegration of its social, political, economical and regional-geographical structure. Also, they are making it harder for Bosnia and Herzegovina to integrate into modern European courses while the process of stabilization in the country as well as in the region of South-Eastern Europe is stagnating. Research of those implications is primary geographical interest. We believe that the Dayton's solution about political-territorial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina is not just establishment of some sort of peace condition in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is more a strategy for stabilization of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the whole region of South-Eastern Europe that can be reached by combinations of the influences of political and democratic processes from outside and authentic political and intellectual potentials for faster development of economical transition, as well, that also implicates the necessity to bulid-up the actual political system as a safe area for a stabile and strong development of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region of South-Estern Europe.
Key words: Bosnia and Herzegovina, regional development, political-teritorial system, Dayton.

Abstract: Slovenia is one of the major foreign investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina: it founded about 200 enterprises and total Slovenian investments in the period 1991-2001 account for about 125 milions USD. In 2002 Slovene exports in Bosnia and Herzegovina account for almost 500 milions €, imports remained on about 70 milions €. Political regional cooperation is based in the frame of the Central European Initiative. From the perspective of EU enlargment in South-Eastern Europe, the emphasis within migration policy in Slovenia should be devoted to integration policy and the inclusion of immigrants into the new society, also as a medium for a better regional cooperation.

Abstract: Application of problem teaching as a part of coomonly called special type of teaching appears rather precious in geography teaching, because it may take over one of the main roles in eliminating negative image of geography as an excusively descriptive teaching subject. It is characterized by difficulty, novelty of situation, and contradictorness between known and unknown facts as well as conscious, directed, creative and independent activity, which helps the student to understand relations between the given and the set goals and, by finding new solutions, finally aquire new knowledge and realize new generalizations, applicable to new situations. Problem teaching is applicable to all age groups of students, with necessary differentiated choice of problem tasks. The paper deals with the following types of problem teaching: teaching characterized by problems of interpolation and extrapolation; acquring new knowledge. Subbsequently, the application of problem

Abstract: Regular fluctuations of natural phenomena and processes have been carried out in natural rhytms and cycles without any human impacts. The main objective of this paper is to investigate regular fluctuations and to determine rhytms and cycles in period of last hundred years. Fluctuations of thermic and pluviometric regime during last one hundred years have been corelated with fluctuations of water level in main waterways in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Possible causes and trends of fluctuations of these climate parameters have been presented in this paper.

Abstract: The Senta municipality is situated in Vojvodina, in the northeastern part of Bačka. The municipality extends in the east-west direction, between rivers Tisa and Čoka. The anayses of physical-geographic characteristic pointed to characteristical problems. In this paper are given all possible solutions for these problems. There are three geomorphologic units in the Senta municipality: wattle plateau, wattle terrace and alluvial plain of Tisa. A problem of dificiency of wattle valleys on the wattle terrace is noticed here. These wattle valleys are of wattle plateau origin. In this paper an example of Kaločki do is taken. This valley comes from the sandy plateau and it does not have one's own expectable continuation on the wattle terrace. In other words it disappears into great depressions of Kerek szek. In this paper is also explained an analyses of already mentioned complex of depressions which, at the other hand, have an influence on the salinization of the soil as a direct consequence of saturation of soil with to much water. All this have a negative influence on agriculture of Senta's area. Special attention is payed to problems connected to the water supplying of the Senta municipality. The quantity of artesian waters has a tendency of falling down in many years what is a consequence of lowering the piezometric pressure. Because of the permenant water exploitation from the wlls, beside uncontrolled boring of new wells, the water pressure has become negative. At the end of this work attention is pointed to the great contamination of the surface waters (the river of Tisa), more exactly here are given the possible solutions of current problems.

Abstract: Excessive woodcutting of qualitative forests in several mounatains and in Vuthay valley (Plav-Gusinje area) caused very harmful processes and consequences. Excessive woodcuttings of fir and pine forests in mountains Horolac, Kofiljaca, Zabelj, Memina etc. caused very strong erosion onto large area of mountains consisted of unstable and metamorphic rocks. On the other side, excessive woodcuttings of beach forests in Vuthay valley are speeding up infiltration of rainfall water in limestone underground. These processes are causing misbalance in flow regime and water level of river Skavkač-Grlja especialy during rainfall season when it floods more than 2/3 of qualitative meadows and alluvial plain in lower sector of valley. During driest summer months water level in spring Syni and river Skavkac falling down to minimum. These processes disable water draining for agriculture production. Weak agriculture production caused intensive emigration of people from Vuthaj valley mostly for USA.

Abstract: There are several small karst field (polje) in the karst relief of West Herzegovina. These fields are representing accumulation-tectonical morphostructure. In the structural-geomorphological sense those fields are trenches. On of those is Mokro polje. Mokro polje is accumulation-tectonical morphostructure. Geotectonical frame of appearing of this structure is default anticlinala Rasno-Kosmaj. In this area there are several negative morophostructures: Trn, Mokro polje, Lipno. Disconformities of relief and orographic structure in this anticlinala can be related with appearing of transversal fault. Along this faults it has been developed tectonical trenches and halftrenches at on side, and mountains: Kosmaj, Drežanj, Oštri Humac and Buhovo on the other side. On of them – Mokro polje have a characteristics of pull-apart structure.

Abstract: The overview of the zoogeographical characteristics of the water ecosystems of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been given according to the investigations of the aquatic insect fauna of the orders Trichoptera, Plecoptera, Ephemeroptera and Dipteracarried out during the period 1930-2004. The representatives with the European spreading have been dominated (cca 75%) in the 486 species of the investigated aquatic insect orders. The high percent of the endemic species give the special significance to the fauna of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially to the fauna of twowinged insects from the family Psychodidae (Krek, 1999.) and to the fauna of the water moths Trichoptera (Marinković, 1981). On the basis of the detailed analysis it could be concluded the aquatic fauna of Bosnia and Herzegovina is characterized with the great diversity of the zoogeographical types. From the biogeographical aspect, it represents one of the center of the origin, and, on the other hand, the existence of the new and old (relict) species of aquatic fauna.

Abstract: Dealing with concrete planning implementation of a simple, generally well understood term „settlement“, a nearly philosophical question emerges: where is the border of a settlement, where it starts and where it ends? Only a dynamic definition, based on a standardized method of defining the borders (and contents) of a settlement can serve some of the spatial planning and policy making purposes. A part of the search for such a definition for the Slovenian Ministry of the environment, spatial planning and energy is presented in the paper, as wel as some prospects for it's improvements in the future.

Abstract: Tourism of the future puts more and more complex demands to its bearers of development, regarding integrations and connections (geographic, tourist and others), the functions which exist in the spaces of great number of tourist movements. A lot of works, in the field of geographic-touristic functions, are just concentrated at touristic influence. That approach confirms the opinion on necessary influence of some, first of all geographic function, to touristic development in some places. Theory of sound development of tourism, which includes space as the mean element, depends on whether it will be tourist movement in the area, it is the key of its development and advancing. This view valorized the environment as aspect of the future on which the civilized heritage has been established. Such concept goes to optimal economic effect, created as result of raising touristic movements, taking in account geographic functions, without such movements would not exist. Having in mind geographic function, which appears as result of landspaces, excellent natural and unique anthropogenic conditions, i.e. in the richness of resource base, Sarajevo can successfully develop tourism and to plan important economic effect by touristic demand. This text deals with search geographic-touristic functions of Sarajevo and influence of same variables to contribution of tourism development. Specially we analyze how from important touristic function to confirm concept of touristic development in the city on which base it is possible to create touristic offer having clearly Bosnian and Herzegovinian characteristics. Further on, the article deals with needed supra and infra structure. It expresses those geographic-touristic functions within importance for touristic development exceeds administrative boarders of Canton Sarajevo and gets signs necessary for global view of touristic development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On these functions the model of including Bosnia and Herzegovina in international economic movement is checking. As the end, the importance of tourism for Sarajevo demand is expressed. It is underlined that benefit in the area where touristic movements take place is double: as tourism brings welfare and quickly development of these places, on one side, and at the same time it supports its including in modern economic movement, on the other side.

Abstract: In England and Wales, compulsory education lasts 11 years and ends at the age of 16. Compulsory education is provided in different types of schools. It includes a six-year primary school attended by children aged 5 to 11 and a five-year secondary school attended by children aged 11 to 16. The geography curriculum came into use on 1 August 1995 for all age groups and is presented in grades 1, 2 and 3. The curriculum contains: achievement objectives, geographical skills, places (to be explored), thematic learning (programme of learning) and achievement objective (student standards). The geographic curriculum specifies: skills and activities that the student should develop in researching places, as well as training students to independently use primary and secondary sources. Student achievements are evaluated at the end of each level. Tests for students are compiled on the basis of prescribed education standards classified into eight levels. The national geographic curriculum refers to the necessary geographic knowledge and its application, which can contribute to: the quality of the environment, the understanding of the economic and industrial world, and the development of international conscience. The application of knowledge and skills in the process of geographical research has a great contribution to the education of young people and their inclusion in the world of work.

Abstract: With a teritory of 7.304 km2 (53% Montenegro) and about 31,40% of whole population of the Republic, north region is made up of eleven boroughs. In this region we can find 67% culivated land, 71% of a whole cattle fond and the biggest part of hydropotential. Also this region has very important potential for tourism of Montenegro. Despite all the facts, participation in a social product of Republic was only 25%, participation in employment was 27% and share in unemployment was even 43,7%. All main regions (except Šavnik, Plužine, Žabljak) until year 1991. had a whole increase of population and in that period that region had 218.592 inhabitants. According to the last list of population in 2003. year statistic showed that all towns from the north 193974 ihabitants of the region. As the most important reasons for such decrease in population are:
- Wrong policy which was carried out toward this region,
- Stagnaation of economic activities,
- Decision of the young population to spend rest of their life in a town,
- Negative social-political circumstances after 1991 year,
- Non-existence of Univeristies (even Agricultural) in this region.
For all these reasons, the north region of Montenegro loses its population for ever. Considering mountainoushilly character of this region, starting solution for its eventual development is supposed to be investment in agriculture cattle breeding, exploitation of wood, development of a tourism in the country and production of health food.

Abstract: Slovenia was the most developed part of Yugoslavia with strong economic ties to other parts of the federation. They were economically important not only because of their markets, but they also provided resources and cheap workforce for Slovenian industry. Besides, Slovenian enterprises often worked as a representative of western companies for the whole Yugoslavia or vice versa. With the break up of Yugoslavia and the wars that followed most of the bonds were lost. Economic cooperation was reduced to minimum (the only exception was the neighboring Croatia). The situation improved in 1996 when fighting in Croatia and Bosnia stopped. Slovenian companies rediscovered the so-called southern markets. Old trade connections were rebuild and Slovenian capital started to invest in the area. In the year 2001 these markets represented 17% of Slovene export and 5% of import. The article will try to enlighten te scope and the main characteristics of Slovene trade and investment in the area. What are adventages and disadventages of Slovene enterprises and what kind of development can we expect in the future?
