The Proceedings of the Congress of Geographers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter the Proceedings) with international participation is a representative periodical scientific publication with a very long tradition of publication. The concept of this scientific publication is aimed at publishing papers in the field of the modern methodological theoretical and applied research in geography and related sciences, the results of which have their place in improvements in local, regional and social development. The Proceedings is conceived as a scientific publication in which, in addition to topics in physical, social and regional geography, papers in the field of tourism, environmental protection, regional and spatial planning and geography in education are published. So far, seven Proceedings have been published, five of which were published after the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the former state union (FNRY, SFRY), geographers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized in the Geographical Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with geographical societies of the former Yugoslav republics gave their full contribution to the development of modern geographical scientific knowledge and achievements through the Congress of Yugoslav Geographers. The result of such active scientific engagement is the organization of two congresses of Yugoslav geographers held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, more precisely in Sarajevo. After gaining the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Geographical Society in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the legal successor of the Geographical Society of SR B&H, in cooperation with the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Science in Sarajevo continued to organize congress activities and publish Proceedings of these scientific gatherings. The first Congress of Geographers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in Sarajevo in 2004. The collection of papers of the First Congress was published by the Geographical Society in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2005, in which 26 scientific papers by geographers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and European countries were presented.
