Bosnia and Herzegovina's potential to be conceptualized as a country with significant opportunities for sustainable tourism development in sensitive natural areas, serves as a guiding principle in analyzing the relief and cultural characteristics of the region framed by the trails presented in the Via Dinarica project.
Within the area delineated by the Green and White Trails, defined by the Via Dinarica project, three new trails have been designed, oriented in a direction contrasting to the "Dinaric" one. The correlation between the growing outdoor tourism and the geomorphological foundation is undeniable, and the "Kontra Dinarica" trails serve as indicators of a continuous array of impressive geomorphological forms within the Dinaric karst, which is, along with the region's centuries-old cultural interweaving, in position to enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to leverage these assets for tourism development, thus contributing to overall economic growth.
Using the inductive-deductive method, the study synthesizes the tourism potential of the motifs of the three trails in their mutual complementarity, as understood through field research and analysis. The findings are presented through quantitative and qualitative parameters in a tabular form, with their recognized significance further illustrated by cartographic visuals created using ArcGIS (10.3.), while graphical representations depict the elevation changes along the trails.
