SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF AGRICULTURAL AREAS AND LAND USE IN THE TUZLA CANTON REGION

Agricultural land is one of the most important categories and forms the basis for intensive agricultural production. Agricultural areas can be analyzed depending on their spatial distribution, categorization, use value, size and connectivity of land complexes, as well as the size of holdings. This paper analyzes the spatial distribution of agricultural areas in the territory of the Tuzla Canton. Available agricultural land was examined according to categorization, i.e., soil quality classes, land use, and agricultural production. Based on field research, existing knowledge, and the collection of various information and documents, agricultural production in crop farming, fruit growing, and livestock breeding was analyzed. The analysis of the spatial distribution of agricultural land in Tuzla Canton presents its economic value and proposes guidelines for future use and protection. The paper represents theoretical and practical research on contemporary processes of economic development in the Tuzla Canton.
